More than 60 kindergarten students from across the Greater Shepparton region filled the school's library with tears and laughter as they had their first taste of what the big school will be like.
School educator Jesinta Propsting said the focus of the morning was for future parents and students to get a feel for the school.
“Today the children are doing a bit of an author study about the book Pig the Pug,” Mrs Propsting said.
“The children are taking part in a range of fun dog-themed activities and they are having a ball.
“This time is also a great opportunity for parents to get some induction information and administration done, to help their child move smoothly into their first year of school,” she said.
Throughout the morning the students took part in different group sessions so they could meet new teachers and future classmates.
The morning was the beginning of the school’s transition program which will continue throughout the year to ensure the young students adjust appropriately to primary school.
Mrs Propsting said the program gave the students a sound knowledge of what to expect next year.
“They take part in a range of literacy, numeracy, physical education programs and also meet their specialist teachers during their visits,” she said.
Once the activities were complete the children were reunited with their parents and were given a show bag filled with activities to complete at home.
