The truck smash at The Other Place café in Main Street Rutherglen at about 5.00pm last Friday week has been described as shattering and disgusting by the café’s manager Cyril Cox.
The truck’s collision into a car, the café and the power pole outside The Other Place has caused major disruption to, and closure for many days in respect of the café.
Power was out until 8.00pm the following day. It has cost a substantial amount of money in wasted food which was refrigerated. And there’s damage to the café’s front.
“We’re waiting for engineers and assessors,” an annoyed Mr Cox told The Free Press last Friday.
“It’s about my staff not having work, it’s about our suppliers and it’s about our customers – they’re most important – who like to come here as a meet and greet place, have a coffee and a chat,” Mr Cox said.
Arrangements were in progress for Mr Cox to hand over the café’s running to senior employee Karin Wait before the truck accident.
Karin will be in charge of The Other Place with an ‘open day’ next Wednesday, April 3.
