The sound of Latin music by the water at Shepparton’s Victoria Park Lake drew many to Tracy Birchall’s class, where people had the chance to learn the rhythm, timing and action of salsa dancing.

The popular free class by the water saw new dancers show up each week.
Dancers: Carlos Rodriguez and Diana Padron.
“People get interested and come along just by hearing the music,’’ Ms Birchall said.
"It’s lovely to have music at the lake and bring some good vibes.
“We’re seeing some real enthusiasm and excitement in some of the participants.”
It was a great day out for the whole family and a great way to meet new people as well, Ms Birchall said.
Groovy: The final performance.
“There’s definitely a few families that have come and had fun ... We’ve had mums and their kids come, and really all ages,’’ she said.
And it was a great way for people of all abilities to get moving and keep active and healthy.
One participant with MS said the exercise she got at the salsa dancing in the park had really helped her with her illness.
Participants were taught some basic salsa steps and partnering, then put together a short routine or Rueda (style of salsa dancing in a circle).
Ms Birchall is following up the lessons in the park with a free salsa class at Shepparton Osteopathic Clinic, 103 Nixon St, Shepparton, on Monday, May 2, at 6.30pm.
