GV Social Riders and RoadSafe Goulburn Valley joined forces to deliver the accredited First Aid and Crash Scene Management course, which simulated real-world situations where hands-on training could take place.
The training was led by First Aid for Motorcyclists owner and director Deborah Geerts, who is medically trained and well experienced in road trauma response.
Brian and Deborah Geerts facilitate the safety course, while Dale Hunter participates.
GV Social Riders administrator and ride co-ordinator Possum Green said Deborah’s approach was “practical, direct and refreshingly honest”.
“No scare tactics, no awkward role-play, just clear, realistic skills that work when seconds matter,” Possum said.
The company’s values of prevention, preparedness and community responsibility to save lives align heavily with both local groups.
“We do what we do because we care deeply about our fellow riders,” Deborah said.
“Compassion drives our mission. We’re here to support each other — not just in emergencies, but in building a stronger, more connected riding community.”

GV Social Riders and RoadSafe Goulburn Valley share a commitment to prevention, community education and reducing road trauma across the region.
Participants of all ages joined the course and learned how the smallest person can safely assist a much larger injured person, how to manage a crash scene without becoming the next casualty, and how calm decision-making and the right questions can save lives.
Beyond first aid, the day reinforced that planning ahead, speaking up, supporting each other and being willing to learn are just as important as skill behind the wheel or handlebars.
Possum said participants praised the training as practical, engaging and different.
