The pair takes the reins from Geoff Benson and Andy Benson, bringing with them plenty of coaching and playing experience, which the Yarroweyah faithful hope will help the side move up the ladder.
Club president Bill Jones was confident the duo would steer the side forward and help the Hoppers jump higher up from this year’s ninth place finish.
“I think those two boys will bring lots to the table — Bryden has got plenty of experience under his belt and has coached the side previously,” Jones said.
Power comes with an impressive coaching and playing resume having previously coached the Hoppers in 2007, before spending a number of years at Thurgoona in the Tallangatta and District League.
A member of the Strathmerton outfit that won the 2015 PDFL premiership, Power will look to implement his winning mentality at Yarroweyah.
“Bryden comes with a wealth of knowledge under his belt, over the last 10 years he has played in five premierships,” Jones said.
Oliver, who, after having risen through the Hoppers’ ranks to make his senior debut at 17, embarked on an impressive career where he has featured for Murray Football League clubs Mulwala and Barooga.
“Keegan will bring plenty of enthusiasm and strength with him, he is very organised as well,” Jones said.
Coming back to Yarroweyah last year, Oliver was named as the Hoppers’ assistant coach last year and was looking forward to stepping up to the plate alongside Power next season.
“I am really excited, I obviously helped out this year, but I am keen to take on the job with Bryden,” Oliver said.
“We have a couple of mates coming back that played in that losing premiership 10 years ago.”
With Louis Oliver returning to the Hoppers next season, as well as the addition of Cobram’s Daniel Clarke sure to bolster the side, the pair has its sights set on breaking into the top eight next year.
“Definitely if everyone puts in the work, finals are what we should be looking at,” Oliver said.
