O’Brien Plumbing was announced as the winner of Customer Service Excellence, while team member Clayton Zanella was named Office Employee of the Year at the awards ceremony in June.
Surveys were sent to customers, who were asked to rate the service of the team to go in the running for the Customer Service Excellence award, while O’Brien Plumbing also put Mr Zanella up for an individual nomination.
Mr Zanella was not aware his workplace had nominated him until it was announced at the awards night in Port Douglas.
He said O’Brien Plumbing first won the award for customer service excellence, so he was surprised when his name was also called out.
“There were some businesses that were massive, are very well known and have hundreds of employees, so to be chosen over them was pretty amazing,” he said.
“These businesses were asking us what our secret was and how we managed to win two awards as a small regional business.”
Owner and director Mel Slattery said the award meant the team received acknowledgement for all its hard work.
“It gives recognition to our team. It recognises the importance that we place on all our customers,” Ms Slattery said.
“Our team is customer-oriented, friendly, highly skilled and communicates in a way that is professional and respectful, and the whole team gels with one another and it’s great to see them being recognised for that.”
Owner and director Geoff Slattery said he was thankful to the community for all the glowing feedback.
“Thanks to all the customers who responded to our surveys, supported us and provided us with positive feedback,” he said.
