Around 65 people gathered at the Kyabram Club on Sunday, October 15 to enjoy an afternoon of Australian Bush Poetry as part of the Kyabram Lions Club sponsored ‘Around the Campfire’ competition.

Those in attendance were treated to a wonderful afternoon of genuine Australian Bush Poetry and included well known Bush Poets; Don McQueen from Melbourne, Alex Allitt from Deniliquin, David Judge from Kangaroo Flat, Colin Carrington from Heathcote, Des Guinane from Numurkah, Baden Howe and Arthur Duke from Mooroopna, Les James from Shepparton and local, Mick Coventry.
Les James also provided some musical interludes for attendees to enjoy.
Winners of the coveted Herb McCrum bush poetry trophy and the Johnny Johanson yarn telling trophy were Don McQueen and Des Guinane respectively.
The bush poetry was well received by those in attendance with many commenting that the performances were the best in some years.
