Music lovers from Shepparton — and even from all the way across Bass Strait — walked the streets of Shepparton between free pop-up concerts on Saturday afternoon as some big names stopped by to perform.

Milly Strange, fronted by Milly Haig, kicked off the first of three shows in the Shepparton instalment of the ALWAYS LIVE Victorian Vibes series at 1pm on June 13, in the car park next to Wyndham Mall, as the sky threatened rain.
Folk Bitch Trio, consisting of Jeanie Pilkington, Grace Sinclair and Heide Peverelle, played in Maude St, at the corner of Fraser St.

It held off long enough for the audience to stay dry watching Folk Bitch Trio in Maude St at 2.15pm, and even further for the headline act of the day, Jet Plane-singing siblings Angus & Julie Stone, who led the crowd in a soulful cover of Sam Smith’s Stay With Me, among their own selection of hits, from 4pm at the Queen’s Gardens.

Indi and Portia, a couple of wanderers from a village in the south of Tasmania, who were winging their weekend, had flown to Melbourne and made their way up to Shepparton especially for the event, with no plans on when or how they would get back there that night, such was their enthusiasm to see their favourite acts live.
With the concert event also drawing many Melbourne fans north, the pair managed to find a ride back, saying the talent on show was worth the adventure.
ALWAYS LIVE, whose staff handed out branded beanies and fingerless gloves to randomly selected audience members during their visit, has delivered fortnightly Saturday pop-up shows in several Victorian locations since mid-April.
The series will wind up at the end of this month.
The initiative is supported by the Victorian Government through Visit Victoria.
Victorian Vibes forms part of ALWAYS LIVE's broader mission to showcase Victoria through the power of live music, supporting local businesses and tourism while reflecting the full diversity and identity of the state.
