Deniliquin locals Peter Lewis, Craig Mexted, and Daniel Mison have raised more than $6000 for men’s health initiatives through the annual Movember Foundation challenge.

The trio spent the month of November fundraising to support the program which attempts to raise awareness of men’s mental and physical health issues.
Typically associated with the growing of facial hair — hence ‘mo’-vember — the men all did something a little different this year.
Mr Lewis grew and shaved his hair, Mr Mexted his beard and Mr Mison his moustache.
They ended their efforts with a ‘public shave’ at the White Lion Hotel on Saturday.
Nakita Doyle from Keet’s Hair helped out on the day, wielding the clippers for each — but not before having fun with some ‘unusual’ styles.
White Lion Hotel co-owner Peter Strongman also got involved in the festivities, donating both money and hair to the cause.
‘‘He was pretty lively and said he wanted to get involved, because it was all for a great cause,’’ Mr Mison said.
However, their sacrifice was not without it’s downsides.
‘‘I’ve been told that I should grow out the moustache already,’’ Mr Mison said.
‘‘And poor Peter (Lewis) wasn’t happy about the sun on his head and neck, he said he ‘hadn’t had the sun on his neck in God knows how long.
‘‘We’d also like to thank the staff at the White Lion hotel, Nakita from Keet’s Hair, and all the people who donated.
‘‘We’re pretty stoked about the outcome.’’
Donations were accepted all through November, with the trio’s employer Essential Energy chipping in some cash as support too.
A charity raffle also contributed to the tally, with Sue O’Bryan, Red O’Connor, Suzie Stafford, Lachlan Holden, and Lachie Joice all winners.
Prizes included vouchers, alcohol packs and a ten-piece barbecue set.
