The championships for senior, junior, urban and rural CFA firefighters finished on Sunday, March 27, but a highlight for competitors, and the public alike, was the return of the torchlight procession through Shepparton on Saturday night after previously being interrupted by COVID-19.
CFA chief officer Jason Heffernan said additional women’s events also created a lot of interest, with Euroa’s Amelia Delahey and Teagan Kubeil making history at the titles.
The students’ names will be the first to be engraved on the inaugural Volunteer Fire Brigades Victoria female aggregate trophy for the team with the highest overall points.
The events, which included the hose and ladder and Y-coupling, are designed to replicate skills used in the field.
