Held at Victoria Park Lake from 8.30am to noon, the morning will include 2km, 4km and 8km events.
Event ambassador Kylie Jones said after a 20-year breast cancer journey, the Mother’s Day Classic was a community event close to her heart.
“I was only 31 when I was first diagnosed … my boys were two,” she said.
Mrs Jones said exercise became an important part of her life during her cancer battle.
“It gave me something else to focus on when everything else felt like it was falling apart,” she said.
“This is a way for me to give back a little bit — it’s a great cause.”
Mrs Jones said funds raised at the classic supported important research.
“Money raised for research and development is paramount; the reasons why we're stood here today is because of the research that’s gone into the past,” Mrs Jones said.
“Once upon a time, it was a death sentence.”

First time Mother’s Day Classic ambassador Wendy Watt-Boyle said the event helped raise awareness.
“The big thing is that people need to check themselves and get checked and follow up on everything,” Ms Watt-Boyle said.
“Advocate to get lumps and bumps investigated ... early detection is key.”
Ms Watt-Boyle said seeing generational support at the fun run was always amazing.
“I’ve walked with my daughter since 2021,” she said.
“I have a new partner, and he now joins me and puts on a pink tutu.
“Sympathy is lovely, but support is even better.”

Kathy Fuller has been helping organise the Mother’s Day Classic since it started in Shepparton 13 years ago.
“It's an absolute privilege to be involved with the Mother’s Day classic,” Ms Fuller said.
“People come together and support each other and have an opportunity to acknowledge their loved ones or friends that may have lost their battle.”
Ms Fuller said there would be music and local businesses selling coffee and donuts on the day.
“It’s just a nice morning where we can all get together and put on a bit of pink or teal,” Ms Fuller said.
“The main part of the day is that we focus on fun. We focus on having a laugh. We focus on sharing our stories.”
She added with a smile: “We have a saying; real athletes wear tutus.”
