It will showcase the juvenilia of Australian children’s authors and illustrators and their early attempts of storytelling as lent out to the exhibition by the storytellers themselves.
Hazel Edwards, famous for the Hippopotamus series, will be attending the launch and will be talking about her work and signing books alongside author Aimee Chan, who is both a contributor to the exhibition and curator.
A selection of Ms Edwards’ books will be available to purchase at the event; people are free to bring their own copies too.
The exhibition also includes contributions from Andy Griffiths, Alison Lester, Pinky Wittingslow, Trent Roberts and many more.
Goulburn Valley Libraries program co-ordinator Bronwyn Cole, who attended the official launch in Shepparton, said it was well worth coming along for a look.
“I was amazed when I first saw the range of items contributed. It’s very obvious who contributed some of the pieces,” she said.
“Graeme Base appears to have been drawing complicated, details artworks since he was a child. I also thoroughly enjoyed the hilarious, highly imaginative stories some of them told.”
The launch will be held at Euroa Library on Friday, February 24 at 4:30pm.
Juvenilia will be at the library from February 24 to March 15 and is free for viewing during regular library hours.
