South Corowa resident for 70 years, award winner and dual Life Member Dorothy Ambrose, has a park named after her.

On Sunday, March 31 a plaque at the South Corowa Park in River Street was unveiled in her honour.
About 80 people attended the official occasion. Master of Ceremonies was Federation Council Deputy Mayor Shaun Whitechurch, who introduced council’s General Manager Adrian Butler.
Positioned on a rock, the plaque was unveiled by four great grandchildren of Dorothy and contains detail of her great community work.
Dorothy’s many projects included lobbying to save South Corowa Primary School and leading the fight to save the Little Common. She was an active member of Landcare and Federation committees, and a Life Member of the Red Cross and Corowa Show committees.

In 2004 she received an award for outstanding service from the Corowa Shire Council. In 2011 she received the Murray Inspiration Award. Dorothy passed away in 2018, aged 89-years-of-age.
Cr Whitechurch said the park naming is “great recognition for a long-time resident who gave so much to Corowa and especially South Corowa”.
“It’s tremendous to formally recognise the tireless work of Dorothy and this recognition will be here forever,” the MC said.
