The festival, organised by Greater Shepparton City Council, offers older people a range of free and low-cost events throughout the month, with this year's theme being 'Explore. Engage. Evolve'.
City of Greater Shepparton Mayor Shane Sali encouraged community involvement.
"Council recognises senior residents play such an important part in community,“ Cr Sali said.
"It would be wonderful to see the community get on board and help us deliver a jam-packed event program which encourages senior residents to go out, socialise and have a great time.“
The council will publish a Seniors Festival brochure showcasing events across Greater Shepparton during October.
Interested parties are encouraged to host 'come and try' days, craft activities, gardening, exercise programs, or any activity seniors may enjoy.
To participate, organisations can fill in the expression of interest application form on the council's website at shaping.greatershepparton.com.au/seniors-festival
The deadline for submissions is 5pm on August 26, 2024. For more information, contact the council's Diversity Project Officer on (03) 5832 9700.
