Speaking with the Free Press on Monday, hotel owner Dan Casey expressed his relief and excitement at being able to proceed on the café and ice creamery.
“We’re very happy to have the permits for the first stage,” Mr Casey said.
“We absolutely could not have gotten this far without the assistance of Corowa Business Chamber’s John Crothers help and we’re going to make every effort to get this stage operational for the community by Christmas.”
Federation Council Mayor, Pat Bourke said he was happy to see positive progress in respect to the Globe re-development.
"It will be great to see this historic pub have some new life breathed into it," he said.
"It's going to be great for the town and the wider region to see this staged development really take off.
“There is a lot of public interest and people are really behind Mr Casey to see this development come to fruition.”
Though Mr Casey is delighted to be able to move forward, he remains uncertain about how the processes for future stages will progress.
“Council have done a total backflip on this after the story came out about our issues,” he said.
“But we still have a number of other applications in that have yet to see any movement on them.
“It’s not the council as a whole, just some individuals who are making things difficult, but we’ll just have to wait and see what happens going forward.”
In what is sure to be one of the most important developments in Corowa’s recent history or future, the community have thrown their full support behind the hotel and Mr Casey.
“It's good that these approvals have happened to give Mr Casey, and the community confidence that we're doing our best by working together and as a result, exciting things are happening." Mayor Bourke said.
