Helen Janke said the 35-strong cast of teenagers aged between 14 and 19 had been rehearsing the energetic musical for months and were eager to hit the stage.
"Anyone aged between 40 and 50 will remember the buzz created by the hit TV series and the movie from the 80s. It's gained a cult following since then," Ms Janke said.
She said the show had been a learning experience for all the cast members as they dealt with the issues of race, class and body image contained in the story.
"It follows the journey of a group of young people from different backgrounds, some have money problems, others are rich, some are insecure and some are confident. I think we can all relate in some way," she said.
"It's been a great way for the kids to explore these issues in a safe environment," Ms Janke said.
She said a live band directed by Shepparton musician Jason Giuliani would play all the familiar big numbers such as Bring On Tomorrow, These are My Children and the title song Fame – Remember My Name.
Lead roles include Maicy Hocking as Cameron Diaz, Tom Nethersole as Nick Piazza, Emma Pummeroy as Serena Katz and Robert Baxter as Tyrone Jackson. Mr Baxter also choreographed the show.
"This is a high energy, visually stunning show — people will be walking or dancing to their cars on a high. We also encourage people to wear their leg warmers," Ms Janke said.
