Appearing as his garden gnome doppelgänger, Costa will celebrate the ways Victorians are saving water in their gardens, and take questions from the audience about how to do it yourself.
This session is just the start - Goulburn Valley Water has teamed up with the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning and water organisations from around the state to create a week-long online learning festival called Explore your Backyard.
The aim is to celebrate and nurture connection to Country and water during National Water Week.
GV Water managing director Steve Capewell said the festival would focus on water efficiency and exploring nature in the local area – whether it be a local waterway, veggie patch or a balcony garden.
The program will be of particular interest to teachers.
“The activities and events have been designed to suit a range of ages, interests, topics andlearning goals and can be accessed from home or classrooms,” Dr Capewell said.
“We hope participants have a bit of fun, learn something new and enjoy exploring their backyard.”
This is the second year GV Water has teamed up with similar organisations to provide Victorians with virtual learning experiences for National Water Week.
“After the success of last year’s inaugural learning festival and uncertainty around COVID-19 restrictions, it made sense for us to work together to bring back a bigger and better online event this year,” Dr Capewell said.
An exclusive Facebook live chat with Costa `the Garden Gnome’ starts at 4 pm on Sunday, October 17.
