Businesses affected by last October’s floods will be able to access the expertise of AusIndustry business advisors during the free sessions, with the remaining sessions to be held on March 27 and April 3.
Delivered through AusIndustry’s Strengthening Business Service, the aim of the advisory sessions is to help businesses become stronger, more resilient and better prepared for the future.
“The highly experienced and independent AusIndustry business advisors will work one-on-one with business owners,” Campaspe Shire Mayor Rob Amos said.
“As part of the process, they’ll conduct a comprehensive overview of the business and recommend ways business owners can strengthen their business systems, operations and strategies.”
The business advisors will cover a broad range of topics, including:
• impacts and issues affecting the business, such as property, plant and equipment, stock/inventory, finance, employees, supply chain and marketing;
• identification of systems and strategies for business improvement;
• assessment of any gaps in business knowledge; and
• identification of connections to services and other support.
“Following the initial discussion, the advisor will then assist the business owner on next steps, which may include further business advice, referral to other services or follow-up information,” Cr Amos said.
Facilitators will allocate 45 minutes with each business to provide a short consult, investigating the situation and state of the business.
Based on that assessment and a series of questions during the condensed diagnostic, the facilitator will provide suggestions on support options for referrals to relevant services.
Strengthening Business Service was set up to help bushfire-affected businesses and was then a support mechanism for flood events in northern NSW and Queensland.
The event is designed as a one-off, but it doesn’t stop businesses from seeking out further appointments.
Organisers of the event expect some “lightbulb moments’’ to assist businesses in negotiating a difficult period.
The AusIndustry business advisors will be available at Campaspe Shire’s offices at 2 Heygarth St, Echuca, between 9am and 5pm on Monday, March 27, and Monday, April 3.
To make an appointment, phone council’s economic development manager Astrid O’Farrell on 5481 2822 or 0428 322 901.
