The boat ramp at Lake Nagambie is one of 35 public sites to have launching and parking fees removed.
The decision has been welcomed by Strathbogie Shire Council.
The Andrews Government will scrap all boat ramp launching and parking fees across the state by spring. This means there will be no fees at the new Lake Nagambie deep water ramp on Loddings Lane, currently under construction.
To use the Lake Nagambie boat ramp previously cost $12 and would contribute about $4000 back into Strathbogie Shire per year.
Strathbogie Shire Mayor Amanda McClaren said the council was ``very supportive'' of the decision.
``We’re happy that our waterway users will be able to access the beautiful Lake Nagambie and Goulburn River waterways free of charge.
``This is a great outcome for tourism in our region, promoting more recreational boating and fishing in our neck of the woods.
``Funding from the Victorian Government will exceed this amount ($4000) to allow for the continuation of boat ramp maintenance, including maintenance at the new boat ramp on Loddings Lane which is nearing completion,'' Cr McClaren said.
According to a government spokesperson, boaters will save up to $136 per year at Lake Nagambie boat ramp.
There are more than 450 public and private boat ramps across Victoria.
There are many boat ramps in Greater Shepparton, Strathbogie Shire, Campaspe Shire and Moira Shire that are free of change, including ramps along the Murray, Goulburn and Campaspe rivers and water storages including Lake Eppalock and Waranga Basin.
