Shepparton Police Detective Senior Constable Peter Warden said a man was robbed at the bus stop in front of Coles on the corner of Vaughan St and Maude St last Wednesday.
"At approximately 1pm the victim was set upon by two males, he was kicked and punched and had his wallet stolen," Sen Const Warden said.
Following the attack the victim made his way on foot to the Police station where he reported the incident.
The man was taken to Goulburn Valley Health for treatment to his injuries, which included cuts and bruising, and suspected broken ribs.

A male and female were arrested in Shepparton on Saturday night following an incident in Rutherglen earlier that day.
Detective Senior Constable Peter Warden said a male, 24, and female, 21, both from Wodonga were involved in a petrol drive-off at Rutherglen.
The pair then evaded police on the Hume Hwy near Wangarratta at high speeds.
"They then entered onto the Midland Hwy heading towards Shepparton ... stop sticks were used near Pine Lodge to deflate their tires," Sen Const Waren said.
As a result the pair dumped the vehicle in Callister St, Shepparton, just before 9pm where they fled the scene on foot.
They were arrested a short time later, within a couple of hundred meters of the dumped vehicle, following a police pursuit.
The pair were charged with drug possession and traffic matters and were bailed to appear at court on a later date.

Police arrested four men following search warrants in the Cobram area on Friday.
Three properties were searched in Cobram and one in Strathmerton in relation to recent burglaries.
A large amount of allegedly stolen property, ammunition and drugs were found during the warrants.
A 42-year-old Cobram man was charged with burglary, theft, handling stolen goods, possessing the proceeds of crime, possessing ammunition without a license and drug-related offences.
He was bailed to appear in the Cobram Magistrates’ Court on September 25.
A 47-year-old Strathmerton man was charged with burglary, theft and handling stolen goods and was bailed to appear in the Cobram Magistrates’ Court on September 25.
A 44-year-old Cobram man was charged with handling stolen goods and was bailed to appear in the Cobram Magistrates’ Court on September 11.
A 49-year-old Cobram man was interviewed and released pending further inquiries.
