While a gate count is yet to be finalised, patrons flowed in continuously throughout the day.
Every area of the show was full of fantastic exhibits, making it a difficult job for all judges involved, and provided a great display for showgoers.
Finley Show Society president Kevin Sexton said a highlight of the day was the crowd being thoroughly entertained by Lachie Cosser the Outback Stockman.
He showcased various stockman skills in his must-see performance, including horses, whip cracking and ducks.
His show culminated in a duet with a Brahman bull.
The show was officially opened by Finley Show Life Members Alex and Joyce Brain, who thanked everyone for coming out to support the show for another year.
Mr Sexton said, as always, a lot of work went into putting on the popular family fun day.
He congratulated everyone involved on an amazing weekend.
“I think we had a very good turnout considering there were finals in both the Murray and Picola football netball leagues on.
“There was a bit of a breeze about, but overall the weather was kind to us.
“Attendance was fairly similar to previous years, but it was hard to know exactly how many people were there because they were coming and going all day.
“The show ran very well in all sections, and we couldn’t do that without all our helpers.
“I want to thank our generous sponsors, our volunteers and committee, and everyone who came along to enjoy the show.”
Mr Sexton said with the cost of living pressures in mind, the show offered a great range of free and paid entertainment, which included rides from the Showman’s Guild.
And he said the livestock sections were well-supported, particularly the beef cattle, which was great to see.
The day’s most coveted prize of the day - the Wynne Hawkins Memorial 'Champion of Champions’ award - was collected by Closeup Poll Dorset Stud.
It is awarded to the best exhibitor across all livestock sections.
Closeup has won the memorial award for the last three years, but Mr Sexton pointed out that this was their first for the Poll Dorset side of the business.
The wins in 2023 and 2022 were for their Suffolks.
The Joyce Yeo Memorial Pavilion Award for Most Outstanding Exhibit went to Kitty Lawton, with Charlotte Perry the runner-up.
Best Static Display awards went to Pether Ag (Commercial) and Sacred Heart Tocumwal (Non-Commercial).
A showgoer from Tocumwal, Courtney Blakelock, was the winner of the lucky gate prize.
Just by attending the show, she went home with a $350 Whitton Malt House voucher.
• More results from the show will appear next week.
