The Moonlight Market Kyabram will operate on the fourth Saturday of each month from 5pm to 9pm, featuring stalls, food trucks and family entertainment spread across the reserve.
Free parking will be available at the adjacent fauna park car park and along Lake Rd, with designated disabled parking spaces near the market entrance.
Kyabram Community Learning Centre chief executive Jen Savage said the market addressed a long-standing community wish.
“The Moonlight Market has come about because for many years, Kyabram has been looking to have its own market and for various reasons, hasn’t been able to come together as a community service,” she said.
“We decided to have another try at it, with the intention of having it at John Pilley Reserve in the foreground of the Kyabram Fauna Park, which is obviously a unique part of town,” Mrs Savage said.
The market will feature food trucks, artisan stalls, live entertainment and handmade goods.
“There will be a lot of different nationalities of food, which is lovely,” Mrs Savage said.
“We are focusing on vibrant local businesses, home businesses, community and wanting to give them an avenue to show off their amazing things that are out there that we didn’t even know about.
“At each market, we will have at least one stall, which is from a not-for-profit in town, and they will be offered a free stall to be able to come and fundraise as well.”
The community has shown strong support through social media engagement.
“It was really lovely seeing all the people tagging businesses that they like and then the tagged business going, ‘Thanks. We didn't know you loved us so much,’” Mrs Savage said.
Mrs Savage said that music and musicians had been booked for the first market, but there was room for more.
The inaugural market launches on Saturday, September 27.
