Goulburn Valley Concert Orchestra, Shepparton Brass and Wind and 36 Degrees South will put in an hour-long concert that is open to the public.
With tickets available to purchase for $5, Chapel on Maude committee president and GV Concert Orchestra director Wendy Oakes said the Concert Gala was one not to be missed.
‘‘The orchestra will be starting the concert, then the band will play a short bracket and we will finish with the choir singing along with some audience participation as well,’’ she said.
‘‘I think it will be lovely, and we will chat about what we’re doing with the space and its availability in the hope that more community groups make use of that venue.’’
Ms Oakes said the three musical groups were now using the Chapel on Maude, formally known as Wesley Church, as their rehearsal space which they were hoping to build into a community music hub.
With the GV Concert Orchestra previously rehearsing at Shepparton High School, Ms Oakes thanked a number of local businesses and organisations for their financial support to facilitate the group’s move ahead of the Shepparton school’s merger.
‘‘The Community Fund Shepparton and Greater Shepparton City Council gave us grants, along with support from our own orchestra members, patrons and sponsors which has given us the funding required to purchase the percussion instruments and shift our location,’’ she said.
‘‘The individual people’s generosity has been fantastic, without them we really couldn’t have done it.’’
The Chapel on Maude gala opening is on tomorrow at 2pm at 150 Maude St, Shepparton. General admission is $5 and there will be afternoon tea afterwards. To buy tickets, visit http://tinyurl.com/ChapelOnMaudeGala
