The store, located at Darling St and Hare St, Echuca, will host the event as part of Coles' national fundraising approach.
“We will be hosting a barbecue to help raise money, and we will be doing a dunk with four of our workers from the store to support FightMND,” Coles Echuca night duty manager Dylan Wright said.
“It is part of a Coles national fundraising approach, with each individual store doing its individual thing.”
The barbecue will run from 10am to 2pm, with the staff dunking scheduled for noon.
Mr Wright will join night manager Rob, bakery manager Kylie and store manager Ashley with an icy cold shower in front of the store.
“Around noon, the staff will be dunked,” Mr Wright said.
“We will have the barbecue; we will have the cash tins and QR codes that link to the fundraising portal on our webpage”
The store has already demonstrated strong fundraising prowess in 2026.
“As of last week, Coles Echuca had so far this year raised about $19,000,” Mr Wright said.
“We are currently ninth nationally among Coles stores in our fundraising efforts.”
However, Mr Wright acknowledged the challenge ahead.
“We are probably not going to hit as high as we did last year, which is unfortunate,” he said.
Adding some theatrical flair to proceedings, Mr Wright promised entertainment value.
“Come and watch the mermaid get dunked again,” he said.
“Last year, I was in that costume, which I still have, but I will spice it up a bit more this year.”
Last year’s efforts were impressive, with the store raising $47,000 over six weeks for FightMND and placing fourth nationally among Coles stores.
