The first Cobram Show since lockdowns and floods will go ahead, with Cobram Agricultural Show president Jodie Wilson promising a delightful time for all.
“I’m hoping that it’s going to be an awesome event where we can bring the community back together again,” she said.
The show will run at the Cobram Showgrounds on Saturday, October 28 and Sunday, October 29, with various events over the two days.
These include a truck show ’n’ shine, show jumping, animal judging and dog shows.
The show will have plenty of live entertainment, with Ms Wilson saying the highlight would be the Shaun Jarvis Freestyle Now BMX Show.
“They’ll be running over both days, so they’ll have five shows per day,” Ms Wilson said.
For those who like an adrenaline rush themselves or a chance to win prizes, there will be rides and side-show alley games to enjoy.
Traditional showbags and show foods such as twisted potatoes and dagwood dogs will also be available.
There will be numerous food displays and cooking competitions where locals can show the community what they are made of.
The show will also feature the inaugural Australian Young Farmer Challenge.
According to Ms Wilson, this new event began at the recent Melbourne Royal Show and is slowly making its way through the regional shows.
The AYFC is an engaging, entertaining and fast-paced competition for young rural people aged 15 to 17 and 18 to 35.
Mixed teams of four are invited to battle it out in a series of fun challenges to take home the champion title and share in the prizes.
The tasks include animal handling, fencing, driving tractors, putting out fires, first aid, heavy lifting and transport challenges. After competing at a local level, the best from each state come together to vie for the coveted title of Australian Young Farmer Challenge champions.
Ms Wilson said the show wouldn’t be possible without the support of wonderful sponsors.
“We are a non-profit organisation that puts the show together ... And we can’t do it without the support of our sponsors and our donors, so I just wanted to say very big thank you to them,” she said.
Ms Wilson said the show would provide a perfect opportunity for attendees to unwind.
“It’s going to be a day that you can just come relax and have a little bit of fun,” she said.
