The Goulburn Murray Community Leadership (GMCL) 2025 Fairley Leadership cohort, alongside alumni, program sponsors and local stakeholders, toured cultural places of worship and gathering as part of a cultural bus tour in June.
Delivered in partnership with the Ethnic Council of Shepparton and District, the group visited the Shepparton Heritage Centre, Goulburn Valley Turkish Islamic Cultural Centre and Mosque, the Shepparton Albanian Society mosque, the Sikh Temple Gurdwara Sahib, and Nabi Akram Islamic Centre.
Throughout the day, participants heard directly from community and faith leaders about the unique histories, traditions and contributions of each group, as well as the challenges faced by multicultural communities in the region.
The cultural bus tour formed part of GMCL’s commitment to fostering inclusive leadership that reflects the voices and lived experiences of all regional and rural Victorians.
While the tour focused on several key communities, GMCL acknowledged there were many others whose stories were equally important.
