Greater Shepparton City Council, in association with the Greater Shepparton Heritage Advisory Committee, will present the 2025 Greater Shepparton Cultural Heritage Awards at a ceremony at Shepparton’s GV Hotel on Saturday, May 10.
Starting at 2pm, the ceremony is open to the public.
The awards recognise outstanding contributions to cultural heritage conservation, research, education, promotion, interpretation, training and awareness-raising across the municipality.
Nominations for this year’s awards closed in December last year.
Categories included Maintenance of a Heritage Place, Best Research Publication or Manuscript, Other Publication, Community and Multicultural Events and Tourism, and Other Contribution.
An independent judging panel has determined the winners, who will be announced at this weekend’s ceremony.
City of Greater Shepparton Mayor Shane Sali said the quality of nominations received was exceptional.
“Our cultural heritage is about more than maintaining buildings,” Cr Sali said.
“It is about conserving our unique identity, ensuring our children can learn about their history and helping us build from the past to make a better future for all.
“We would love for people to attend the awards ceremony and celebrate those who have contributed towards our region’s heritage.”
Those attending the ceremony are encouraged to RSVP by Thursday, May 8 to council’s Strategic Planning Department by email to council@shepparton.vic.gov.au or phoning 5832 9700.
