Organised by Menarock Life Shepparton lifestyle co-ordinators Joanne Ewart and Liza Del Rosario, the residents enjoyed looking at a number of antique items, including tools, phones, irons and even a butter churn.
Ms Ewart said the day had been a huge success, giving residents the chance to reminisce and take a look at items they might not have seen in a long time.
‘‘For some of our residents it’s not easy to go and see these items anywhere else so we thought we would bring them here,’’ she said.
‘‘It’s been nice having conversations about the items and it’s good for their memory.’’
Menarock Life Shepparton invited local antique store Barclay’s Antiques & Collectables to bring along some items from collections to showcase.
Barclay’s Antiques & Collectables owner June Barclay enjoyed speaking with the residents about the items.
She said some of the popular topics of discussion included the old water bag and the vintage tobacco tins.
‘‘We have so much at the store so we just picked a few things that we thought they (the residents) may remember,’’ she said.
Ms Ewart was looking forward to hosting the event again, with some new additions.
‘‘We might bring something else in next time, maybe a dressing up aspect and a photo booth,’’ she said.
