According to the Bureau of Meteorology, the town only received a total of 3.6 mm of rain for the month, with the rain falling on three different days.
The most was just 1.4 mm in the 24 hours until 9 am on April 21.
This year was well below the historical April mean rainfall for Shepparton of 36.7 mm for the month.
It is also a far cry from last year’s wet April, which saw 132.4 mm falling in Shepparton.
The highest daily April rainfall came on April 30 last year, when 48.6 mm fell on that day alone.
According to historical records taken from the Bureau of Meteorology’s Lemnos weather station between 1962 and 1996, the wettest April was in 1974 when 157.8 mm fell for the month.
The driest year recently, however, was in 2013 when no rain fell in April.
Daytime April temperatures for Shepparton this year were exactly the same as the historical mean temperature of 22.6 degrees C for the month.
The hottest day this year came on April 4 when the mercury hit 32 degrees C.
In fact, the temperature hit 30 degrees C or more three times for the month, while it dropped to 20 degrees or less on 11 days.
The coldest day of the month this year saw the temperature only reach 16.8 degrees C, on April 21.
The mean nighttime temperature of 8 degrees C this April was close to the historical mean of 8.7 degrees.
The hottest night was on April 8 when it reached 15.9 degrees C, while the coldest night was a chilly three degrees on April 13.
The coldest April night according to historical records, came on April 25, 1999, when it was a chilly -0.6 degrees, while the hottest night saw the temperature only drop to 21.7 degrees C on April 12, 2018.
The weather is expected to be partly cloudy for the next three days, with a top temperature of 20 on Wednesday and 21 on Thursday and Friday.
A medium chance of showers is forecast for Saturday, with the temperature expected to reach 20 degrees C.
