Shepparton Art Museum Limited is seeking expressions of interest from high quality, experienced food and beverage operators to provide a "creative and modern" interpretation of the food and dining experience for visitors to the new museum.
With a strong focus on customer service, the provider will partner with SAM to offer hospitality services across the site for guests, visitors and the community of Greater Shepparton.
Services will operate under an exclusive arrangement across the site and will be an integral part of the visitor experience at SAM.
Operations will include the SAM café, operating 362 days a year for breakfast, coffee, lunch, snacks, drinks and dinner (as required) as well as catering for corporate events, exhibition openings, internal catering, functions and private/special events.
The café space is approximately 260 sq m and the alfresco area 90 sq m including kitchens and storage.
The level four function space is available for special events.
The majority of the café fit-out and stylisation will be provided by SAM but not kitchen equipment.
The successful tenderer will be able to work with SAM on the layouts and fit-out.
The covers for the café are 68 and for the terrace 45 not including special events on level four.
The contract will start in November for three terms of two years - six years in total.
Set to be a major tourism destination for the region, the new museum was designed by internationally-renowned architects Denton Corker Marshall and is currently being built by Kane Constructions.
The five-storey, metal clad building will house the new Shepparton Art Museum, indigenous art gallery and workshop Kaiela Arts, and the Greater Shepparton Visitor Centre.
Located on the main southern entry to the Shepparton CBD at Victoria Park Lake, the building overlooks the wetlands and native bushland of the Goulburn River.
It will provide a view from both the second level café with outdoor terrace and the top floor function space with bar, both of which will be available for use by the successful tenderer.
Expressions of interest applications are to be submitted electronically via Tender Search at eprocure.com.au/lite
Applications are now open and close on March 13.
The question period ends on Friday.
The shortlisted applicants will be requested to quote after April 30.
