Having delivered the Lift Off Education Scholarship Fund since 2015, Greater Shepparton Foundation chief executive Cheryl Hammer was delighted to receive an anonymous $100 000 donation at the Casual for a Cause fundraiser recently.
“It is a wonderful gesture to help progress the lives of students from our region and a sign of great confidence in the work we do with the Lift Off Scholarship Fund,” Ms Hammer said.
“We are very grateful to the number of people every year who partner with us to be able to offer this support to our young people.”
Ms Hammer said the scholarship program was created in response to the increasing number of young people not able to afford the transition from high school to post-secondary education.
“Over the past five years the scholarships have increased the number of students from the Goulburn Valley region who are able to pursue their education dreams,” she said.
“While only relatively small amounts, we have seen the profound impact the scholarships can have on the lives of recipients.’’
Scholarships ranging from $2000 to $10 000 are now open for students studying in 2020.
