Business as usual for Shepparton's recycling

It will be business as usual for recycling in Greater Shepparton, after initial concerns were cleared by Greater Shepparton City Council.

More than 30 Victorian councils faced a number of concerns last week, after Melbourne-based company SKM Recycling ceased operations.

SKM contacted all councils on Thursday night to share the news they would be immediately shutting down due to an Environment Protection Authority order.

A Greater Shepparton City Council spokesperson said the closure did not affect local recycling processes, as all local items were sent to VISY Industries in Melbourne.

“Our kerbside collection contractor Veolia has spare capacity in their Echuca materials recovery facility if needed so at this moment it is business as usual for us,” he said.
