Shepparton seniors in line for cash boost

The groups, including the North East Bocce Association, Shepparton Italian Women's Group Inc, Shepparton Macedonian Seniors Group and Tatura Italian Women's Group, are part of close to 900 that will share in the $3.6 million pre-election commitment.

Member for Northern Victoria Mark Gepp said the proposed funding would allow organisations to hold events, excursions, cultural music performances and religious celebrations while assisting with the purchase or upgrade of equipment.

"Shepparton is home to a number of groups doing wonderful work keeping our senior citizens engaged with our community and in touch with their cultural roots," he said.

"This is important work as people get older - whatever their cultural background - this funding will make a world of difference."
