Run by Nutrien Harcourts Kerang and Nutrien Shepparton, the clearing sale went online as a result of coronavirus restrictions, with the results well above expectations according to Nutrien Harcourts Kerang's Greg McNeil.
“By holding the clearing sale online it opens it up to a much broader buying group, resulting in increased buyer activity, achieving better results for the vendor,” he said.
Prospective buyers viewed the sale items online, with each lot photographed and described.
Nutrien Harcourts Shepparton auctioneer Michael Downie said presentation was key.
“Presentation is everything with an online auction; the better the quality of equipment, backed up with a good service and maintenance history and realistic reserve prices, the more people will compete to purchase the items,” he said.
The business has been running monthly multi-vendor machinery auctions since May, with water sales, real estate auctions and clearing sales also taking place online.
The monthly machinery auctions list various items for sale and are used when vendors don’t have enough items to justify having their own clearing sale.
