And while it’s disappointing that the Bombers won’t be playing finals, their performance against Euroa before the bye has inspired them to finish on a high.
“Last time we played Mansfield we came away with a draw so obviously we will absolutely be respecting them coming into the game,” coach Sarah Kent said.
“If we can continue that full on-court pressure like we did in the last game, hopefully it can all come together and we can stay in form.”
She said the bye had given players a well-earned break that will see them come out firing.
“It rejuvenates all the players across the board, brings up their excitement,” she said.
“We are really pumped for our last few games and I think we’ll have a solid hitout to finish.”
While the A graders couldn’t nab a finals spot, the Bombers B reserve side has secured their position, sitting at sixth on the ladder.
Coach Jodilee Rennie said that although the side has only just snuck into finals, they are going in confident.
“We’ve managed to put it to a number of the top teams and we’re hoping to bring that same intensity into the finals,” she said.
“And we’ve been improving all season. Echuca beat us by 10 in the first game and then we drew with them in the latest game, so we can see that we really are competitive with the top sides.”
She said Mansfield will be a good opportunity to hone some of the skills and strategies that they will take into their finals campaign.
“The girls are super keen and they are just ready for finals,” she said.
“We’ve got a really strong bunch of girls and a couple of juniors that have come up after Ella Brennan was taken out with an injury.
“Overall it’s a really strong side and we are looking forward to getting into it.”
