Cannabis seized
A 28 year-old man who was ‘‘acting suspiciously’’ in George St, Deniliquin on last week was allegedly found to be in possession of more than 110g of cannabis leaf.
Police said the cannabis and a small set of scales were found inside the man’s backpack.
The man was initially spotted by police during a patrol of George St about 4.20am on Friday.
He is alleged to have attempted to evade police by hiding in the bushes at a nearby property, which gave police cause to speak to and search the man.
He has been charged with possession of a prohibited drug, and is expected to appear in Deniliquin Court in September.
Drugs charge
A small resealable bag of the drug ‘ice’ and a glass pipe used in the administration of the drug were seized from a car stopped by police on Friday night.
Police attempted to stop the car in Hardinge St, Deniliquin about 9.45pm.
The car pulled into the Hardinge St shopping complex car park, where police spoke to a 21 year-old Deniliquin man and a 22 year-old Deniliquin woman who emerged from the car.
Both have been issued a court attendance notice to appear in Deniliquin Court in August, regarding possession of a prohibited drug and possession of equipment used to administer a prohibited drug.
