Lachlan, who is an up-and-coming equestrian, was lucky enough to be a family friend of Cathy Nicols who won the Mort Business Services community draw with a prize value of $5000 in December.
Mort Business Services and BPT Private Tuition are owned and operated by local business and education consultant Kylie Mort, and she had included a Term 1 package to the value of $700 in the MBS members collaboration drawn late last year.

When Ms Nicols won, not having children of school age, she passed this gift onto a friend in the community.
Lachlan’s mum Andrea said she was shocked and grateful to Cathy for thinking of the family when she won the prize.
“Lachlan's been tutored by Kylie before and he found it really helpful, so it was a really nice bonus when Cathy rang,” Ms Campbell said.

Ms Mort said she was pleased she was able to offer further individualised support to Lachlan now that he was working with her primary expert, Fiona, at the office at 61 Carrier St, Benalla.
“I was really excited to hear that Lachlan had been offered the Term 1 package,” Ms Mort said.
“I've worked with him before and he works really well one-on-one with his literacy, so I thought it would be a good thing for him.”

“He’s doing so well with his sport and in the community at the moment, to have extra support at a school level, so he can put more time into his sporting aspirations, will really pay off.”
Lachlan said the one-on-one tuition sessions had been a big help.
“I think it helps with my schoolwork and I like coming here,” he said.
