Formerly known as Westside Circus, Circus Nexus is passionate about circus arts training, offering adaptable programs for various age groups and skill levels — accommodating both small and large groups.
Principal Bronwyn Rose said students at their college were extremely grateful to take part in such an extraordinary curriculum activity.
“Only the Year 7s are doing circus this year, but over time we’ve had circus arts training across most year levels,” she said.
“Some years, we’ve even held performances for parents at the end of the year — and students, staff, and parents alike have all thoroughly enjoyed it.”
With a focus on improving physical strength, balance, coordination, confidence, self-esteem, and social interaction, the students at ACE are learning valuable life skills — and having plenty of fun along the way.
“This term, the Year 7 students are learning juggling, acro balance, plate spinning and diabolo,” Bronwyn said.
“By all accounts, they’re really enjoying this creative way to increase their physical activity.”
Bronwyn then recalled a standout experience from earlier years.
“In January 2020, four of our students attended a creative arts youth exchange in Turkey through what was then Westside Circus,” she said.
“They made friends with young people from places like Sweden, South Africa, Turkey and South Korea.”
Students are currently participating in Monday afternoon sessions at the school — a welcoming and energising way to start the week.
“It’s incredible to see students step out of their comfort zones and surprise themselves — the growth in confidence is just as impressive as the tricks they learn.”
