The show will be headlined by one of Australia’ s most in-demand live-singing drag queens — Prada Clutch — who is no stranger to the Shepparton community.
‘‘I am aware of the GLBTQI community as well as the drag scene in Shepparton through our involvement with Goulburn Valley Pride in the lead-up to the show,’’ Ms Clutch said.
‘‘I know some local queens are definitely coming along to the show, so I do expect a lot of cheers and maybe a few ‘yaaas queens’, too.’’
Ms Clutch said she and her Priscillas would take audience members on a drag history lesson from the 1960s, from the Les Girls of Kings Cross, through to The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert in the 1990s, finishing off with a celebration of music icons who have inspired drag performers around the world.
Ms Clutch draws her inspiration from the likes of Dusty Springfield, Patti LaBelle, Bette Midler and Cher.
The all-male revue will also pay a special tribute to Australian entertainer Carlotta.
‘‘Carlotta came to my first show and she was blown away; she said a lot of people have tried to do tributes to Les Girls, but no-one has ever done it quite like us,’’ Ms Clutch said.
Ms Clutch’s team of Priscillas includes three drag queens and four ‘‘very hot’’ male dancers, and Ms Clutch said there had not been a touring show like this since the days of Les Girls in the 1960s.
‘‘Monique Kelly was an original member of Les Girls and she is the creative director for the show,’’ she said. ‘‘She has helped take the show to a whole other level with her knowledge and expertise.
‘‘It’s a feel-good show; everyone leaves feeling uplifted and may even find themselves dancing in the isles — which we do encourage.’’
Patrons can make a night of it and enjoy a pre-show meal at Eastbank Café by making a reservation.
Prada’s Priscillas will hit the stage on Saturday, February 9, from 8pm. Tickets cost between $59 and $65 and are available online or through Riverlinks Box Office on 58329511.
