Featuring internationally recognised artists in a rich display of ballet skill, Le Corsaire features colourful costuming and virtuoso choreography, captive maidens, rich pashas and dramatic rescues, culminating in an unexpected shipwreck.
Based on The Corsair by Lord Byron and choreographed by Michelle Sierra, the production is full of adventure, action, comedy and romance, with a famous Pas de Trois — one of the most breathtaking spectacles in ballet.
Riverlinks performing arts and conventions manager Ken Cameron said it was wonderful to see the Victorian State Ballet return again this year.
‘‘This performance is particularly special, with some local dance students being featured in the show,’’ he said.
‘‘Le Corsaire is highly entertaining and full of adventure and comedy.
‘‘It’s a memorable, light-hearted experience for families available here in Shepparton.’’
Le Corsaire will be performed on Sunday, June 2, at 2pm at Riverlinks Eastbank, Welsford St, Shepparton.
Tickets are available online or through the Riverlinks Box Office. Phone 58329511.
