Easter Cup is wide open

ECHUCA Harness Racing Club has hit the jackpot for its Easter Sunday night meeting with enough nominations to stage a 10-race card.

Feature events will be the $10,000 Echuca Workers and Service Club Eureka Series final and the Moama Bowling Club Easter Cup.

The Eureka Series final for CO assessed pacers has attracted a full field of 10 starters plus an emergency for the 2160m trip from the mobile.

Heat winners Okanes Devil and Ideal Velocity are drawn to be in the finish from barriers one and three respectively while best of the second row chances could be Rothko and Cadillac Rock.

The Easter Cup looks a wide-open affair with no last start winners. Back marker Bernie Winkle gets his chance to break back into the winner’s list, despite his tricky draw, on the strength of a cheeky last start placing at Mildura last week in smart time.

The meeting kicks off at 5.42pm with the running of the Let’s Do Coffee & Catering Pace Final.

Veteran Nanneella-trained pacer Lights And Music will be hard to toss on his heat win at the Kyabram Cup meeting at Shepparton last Sunday, but it looks a race of many chances.

Another race on the bumper program which has a lot of local interest is the Peter Summer Big Screen Pace in which district-trained pacers Roslyn Gay, Tillys Desire and Winkn Nod have strong each way claims.
