Alan has a long history in local government, serving the community of Balranald as a councillor for more than 30 years, including a number of stints as mayor and deputy mayor.
Having run the family newsagency for more than 40 years before retiring recently, he’s quickly gotten a feel for the issues in the region — above all, the water crisis.
He claims his is the only viable party to save the region’s water, with Labor pledging to hold a Special Commission of Inquiry into the water mismanagement along the Murray-Darling basin.
And while he can’t make it rain, he hopes his party can try to alleviate some of local farmers’ suffering.
