Saints president Lloyd Johnson said it was always a tough challenge when the Saints came up against any of the Shepparton netball sides.
‘‘Shepparton have a wider range of numbers to pull players from, particularly in the juniors. We might have up to 30 to 40, whereas Shepparton has up to 100 players to pull from in their trials,’’ Johnson said.
‘‘The main take away for our netballers is; they competed well and they are confident in what they are doing.
‘‘We move on and look towards Seymour this weekend.’’
The Saints’ A-graders failed to get over a strong Swans line-up, finishing 25 goals behind in their contest.
Meanwhile, B-grade made its match against the Swans a closer one, falling six shots short of a win.
And in what continues to be a big loss for the team, coach Pip O’Donoghue is currently awaiting scans to confirm whether the knee injury she suffered in her side’s round 1 loss to Euroa is in fact what the club fears, an ACL injury.
In other results, the B-grade reserves lost their match-up, 38-60, while in the juniors, the under-17s suffered a big loss to the Swans.
And after a strongly contested first term which saw both sides level on the scoreboard, Benalla’s under-15s fell away to lose their contest by 39 goals.
