Who plans to support schools and hospitals? Who promises to address climate change? What about infrastructure?
Well, you can have all those questions and more answered at a special Candidates Forum in Benalla next month.
The forum, which will be held at the Lakeside Community Centre on April 10, is being organised by a group of volunteers led by local woman Alice Martin.
‘‘We have organised the forum for candidates in Indi to speak in anticipation of the upcoming federal election,’’ Ms Martin said.
‘‘It will include, Independent Helen Haynes, Labor candidate Eric Kerr, Mark Byatt from the Nationals, Steve Martin the Liberal Candidate and Shane Wheatland representing the United Australia Party.
‘‘We are hoping that there will also be a Greens candidate announced closer to the election and hopefully some more independents.
‘‘We are unsure if there will be representation from the micro-parties for the Indi electorate, but that is a possibility.’’
The details are still being finalised, but at this stage organisers have confirmed the host and some of the format for the evening.
‘‘There will be a an opportunity for audience participation and questions will be based on issues that are important to the people of Benalla and Indi,’’ Ms Martin said.
‘‘And we have confirmed local journalist and former Ensign editor Libby Price as host.
‘‘We chose to hold the event at the Lakeside Community Centre as it is a prominent venue that will allow us to engage as many local people as we can. We will be inviting gold-coin donations from the public, however, we would like this event to remain as inclusive and accessible as possible.’’
There will be drinks available at bar prices as well as tea and coffee.
Please arrive for the forum at 7pm, for a 7.30 start.
