Having completed a striking two-silo mural of a First World War nurse and a modern combat medic last year, Cam will tackle a third steel silo next month.
Devenish Silo Art Committee member Kevin Mitchell said that painting would begin on April 5.
‘‘The committee and Cam made a mutual decision on the topic for the new mural,’’ Mr Mitchell said.
‘‘We’ve sourced a photograph that is appropriate to paint, at this stage we can say it is of a Lighthorseman.’’
Creating the mural will take about one week and it will be unveiled at an official Anzac tribute day, on Sunday, April 14.
‘‘It will be a major event for Devenish,’’ Mr Mitchell said. ‘‘It will be a special day because a street parade and this type of opening is a first for a silo art instillation.
‘‘The parade will have a 1920s theme, in fact we’ll invite visitors a to wear a period costume that would add to the spirit of the day if they would like.
‘‘We have several RSL clubs marching. We’ve got the Hawthorn pipe band coming from Melbourne, they’re one of the best in the country.
‘‘There will be trainees from the army school of health in Bandiana. They are brining down 15 to 20 people, and some air cadets from Wangaratta.
‘‘There will be 1920s vehicles, horse and buggies and that type of thing. It will be a photographers paradise.’’
The Anzac service will be conducted jointly by the Shepparton and Yarrawonga/Mulwala RSL clubs.
Mr Mitchell said the new mural will be the perfect compliment to the existing images.
‘‘We painted the nurses as a street artist had proposed a World War I work on a silo,’’ Mr Mitchell said.
‘‘That wasn’t Cam, but it triggered the idea for us to do that, as we thought it was an incredibly worthy thing to do.
‘‘Particularly because so many from this district enlisted in the world wars, so we thought it was an appropriate theme.’’
The Anzac tribute and silo opening on April 14 will include hot and cold drinks and food will be available from a variety of stalls and vans.
