Chelsea Beavis and Ally Ellis worked hard to stop the All Blacks from scoring, but had a tough gig against the All Blacks shooters who moved fast and were very accurate.
At half-time the Bats trialled by four goals. All Blacks was a very disciplined team and didn’t stop contesting every ball, making it extremely hard for the Bats to maintain control of the game.
The Bats’ shooters Ella Sheehan and Kylie Relf had their work cut out and weren’t able to convert on some crucial turnovers leaving the Bats to continue trailing at three-quarter time by six.
The Bats’ mid-courters Alexandra Davies, Sarah Osborne, Jacinta Beavis, and Amelia Gall had plenty of speed through the mid-court, creating plenty of turnovers, but were not able to capitalise on them because of the tough All Blacks defenders.
Overall it was not the outcome the Bats were looking for, but it was a strong physical game preparing them for finals next week.
The Bats will reset and look forward to their match against Whorouly in the quarter-finals next week.

B-Grade
The Bats had a tough contest against Benalla All Blacks. It was good to see the B-grade girls all wearing their yellow socks to support the cancer round.
The Bats led the game by three points at quarter time. At this stage in the game, they looked in control until Kelsey Moss went down with an injury.
The girls went into the third quarter trailing by four goals. The All Blacks had plenty of pressure over the ball and the shooters Jenna Brunner and Chloe Gunn weren’t able to score easily.
Chelsea Bamford was outstanding in defence, taking many rebounds and intercepts throughout the game, but the All Blacks girls were too strong and able to continue their lead. At the three-quarter time the bats were nine goals down.
The mid-courters Carli Hogan, Molly Doidge and Kirsty Eastwood drove hard to the ball and tried very hard to bring back the margin, but it was too late, the Bats lost by nine goals.

B-Reserve
The crowd was strong and spirits high for our last game of the season against the All Blacks. With Terry’s Sock it to Cancer awareness day, we were keen for a win. However, it wasn’t our day and after sticking close for half the game, we were unable to maintain the intensity and All Blacks pulled away.
Best-on-court was Hanna Botta, who proved invaluable in the mid-court with her intensity and pressure on the play. Second was Maddie Thomas who worked hard to be in front and force errors all game, creating endless turnovers. Third was Fi Doig, whose height and impeccable three feet made it so hard for the goalies to shoot. Congratulations girls on a great season. We hope to see you back on the court in 2023.

Under-15
What a day to be out in our beautiful matchy yellow socks for Terry Greaves cancer fundraiser. The girls look swish and opened the first quarter with faultless court flow and movement.
Taking the first quarter with All Blacks not scoring a goal. Shooters Sophie Hammond and Poppy Broomhall showed versatility and great goal movement; midcourters Charli Button And Ruby Richardson had great drive and connection throughout the game.
The Batters kept pushing and created multiple turnovers from defenders Lacey Carter and Molly Martin, which flowed down the court in superb fashion, scoring off most.
Teliha Yates intercepted throughout her time on court along with Charlie Gall, Amelia Feldmann and Claudia Kelly, getting fingers to most balls and producing some of their best. The game was finished in a strong fashion even though All Blacks tried their best to beat the baby Batters.
The girls came away with a great win 31-17 to finish off their season. Season 2023 will be looking good for these young netballers.
