Rain on Wednesday and early Thursday has freshened up the track, and the prediction is for a mostly sunny tomorrow.
Deniliquin Racing Club president Russell Douglas said with a top of 22°C expected, everyone should don their race-day attire and make sure they are trackside.
“I think it is going to be a fantastic day,” he said.
“These types of events are great for small towns because everyone has the opportunity to come together for a day of fun and socialise with friends, family and acquaintances.
“We have some pretty good nominations for the six races, so I invite everyone to come down for a great day of races.”
As usual there will be TAB facilities, bookmakers, food stalls, bar, and entertainment for the children.
For the first time this year the Tipsy Filly Beer Garden will be operating, complementing the already popular corporate marquee and private marquee packages.
Patrons can dress to impress and try their luck in one of the seven Fashions on the Field categories with prizes for the best young racegoers, adults and even Couple of the Day.
And the first 200 people to enter the gates will receive free entry thanks to Edward River Council’s latest initiative under the Drought Communities Programme Funding.
Complimentary buses are also available from each of the six rural villages to transport patrons to and from the race event.
Mayor Norm Brennan said he hoped community members would take advantage of the race day initiatives and to come together in unity for a fun day out.
“Our bus and gate entry initiatives will allow a diverse range of people from across our council area to attend the race meeting, who might not have otherwise been able to attend,” he said.
“It will bring together people in a social setting and promote attendance at a very important event for the community and local racing club.
“Having a day out with friends is incredibly important during these times, and we hope this initiative helps as many people as possible to attend.”
council's complimentary bus service will depart from Boorooraban at 11am, Wanganella at 11.20am, Pretty Pine at 11.35am, Conargo and Blighty at 11.30am, the return trip is 6.30pm.
In Deniliquin, the bus services to the racecourse will pick up from local caravan parks, hotels and other specific locations.
General entry to the racecourse is $25 for adults, which includes a race book. Under 18s get in free with an accompanying adult. Gates open at 11am.
