About 1.30am neighbours reportedly heard noises, however the theft wasn’t discovered until 9.30 that morning.
Police allege multiple offenders forced open the front door and unhinged the ATM from its holding.
Part of the machine has already been recovered from the Wakool River, but drawers holding money are still missing.
It’s unsure how much money was in the ATM.
Anyone with information is urged to contact Deniliquin Police (03) 5881 9299 or Crimestoppers 1800 333 000.
