It is based on the new Model Code of Conduct for local councils — prescribed by the NSW Office of Local Government late last year — which aims to ensure there are procedures in place to promote transparency and accountability in council operations.
All NSW councils were required to adopt a code of conduct and procedures based on the new model by June this year.
Mayor Chris Bilkey said the policy assists to uphold the integrity of all those involved with council.
‘‘The code covers everything from bullying, conflict of interest, complaint processes and much more,’’ he said.
‘‘As much as anything else, it’s a guide to civility, respect and common sense.’’
Council also adopted a new Code of Meeting Practice, promoting a more orderly and effective framework for conducting council meetings.
The adopted codes will be available for viewing on council’s website.

Murray River Council has placed its draft CCTV Policy and Code of Practice on public exhibition.
The policy follows on from funding received to install surveillance systems at various council locations.
‘‘CCTV is a necessary step to ensure our communities continue to remain safe and secure destinations with low levels of crime and anti-social behaviour,’’ Cr Bilkey said.
Under the policy, CCTV cameras would be installed at priority locations identified through the level of pedestrian traffic in certain areas and whether there has been a history of crime and requests for camera installation.
Council-operated cameras are currently installed at the Moama branch office, Moama landfill, Mathoura skatepark, Moama works depot and Moama CBD.
The draft CCTV Policy will be on public exhibition for 28 days.
