Mayor Bernard Gaffney said the Get Active Indigo grants program will put $30,000 towards a diverse range of recreation activities and programs across the shire.
“Twenty per cent of Indigo Shire residents over the age 15 in report that they do no physical activity at al, and we want to try and change this,” he said.
“The Get Active Indigo grant program was created following recommendations made in the Active IndigoRecreation Plan, to better meet the needs of residents through a program-based approach to improving participation on physical activity.
“Indigo Shire is home to a great number of sporting clubs, committees and community groups and we’re looking forward to seeing some new and innovative ideas come to fruition through these grants.
“We hope applicants will think outside the box.”
A total of $30,000 is available as part of the Get Active Indigo grants program, with a maximum of $5000for each project. Applications close on Friday, February 22.
